Bridgeport resident Maurice Beverly was arrested on Thursday, July 11, for the Sunday, June 23 incident in which a 23-year-old New Haven resident was shot on a city street in New Haven.
According to Officer Christian Bruckhart of the New Haven Police, officers responded to the area of Whalley Avenue and Sherman Avenue following a ShotSpotter activation but could not find a victim.
They later located the victim at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and survived, Bruckhart said.
New Haven Police Detective Thomas Glynn also arrested Beverly in March of 2023 for possession of an illegal firearm.
Beverly was charged with:
- Assault
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Carrying a pistol without a permit
